Job summary

DTU Bioengineering in Denmark seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher for a collaborative project at the intersection of synthetic biology, metabolism, and active matter physics. The successful candidate will lead experimental work combining optogenetic control, metabolic sensors, and physical modeling to uncover how energy flow shapes multicellular organization.

The position requires a PhD and strong communication skills in English; mentoring responsibilities and a two-year appointment

Qualifications

  • Hands on experience with mammalian cell culture and genetic engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fluorescence microscopy (live imaging and light-sheet).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with ability to articulate complex concepts to interdisciplinary audiences.
  • Direct experience mentoring trainees at the BSc, MSc and PhD level.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and optimize optogenetic gene circuits and live-cell metabolic sensors.
  • Metabolic phenotyping using functional assays (e.g., Seahorse XF) and isotopic tracing.
  • Prepare samples for omics data generation (metabolomics, transcriptomics).
  • Design and execute 2D multicellular assays to study emergent behaviors.
  • Perform biophysical experiments to link metabolic states with cellular mechanosensing and signaling.
  • Process and interpret high-resolution, spatiotemporal datasets from live-cell imaging and sensors.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to PhD, MSc, and BSc students.
