Job summary

Aarhus University’s Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering invites applications for a 24-month position in Carbon Capture and Utilization. Work on microbial conversion of CO2 to methane and acetic acid within the CORC center, starting 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible, at Gustav Wieds Vej 10D and AU Energy Research Facility.

The role includes reactor design, experiments, and group collaboration.

Qualifications

  • PhD in microbiology or biotechnology.
  • Hands-on experience with H2/CO2-based anaerobic cultures (methanogens or acetogens).
  • Knowledge of microbial physiology, growth kinetics and thermodynamics.
  • Experience with microbial inhibition models and model-based data processing.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Design and operate reactor systems for CO2 capture and conversion.
  • Study anaerobic microorganisms catalyzing H2/CO2 conversion to products.
  • Collaborate within the CORC and BCE groups; contribute to teaching and supervision tasks.
