Job summary

DTU, Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, invites applications for a postdoc position in the Lab4DMade project focused on developing local strain analysis tools for Lab-4DµXRD and applying it to sustainable materials.

The successful candidate will develop software to analyze elastic and local plastic strains, perform in situ experiments, and collaborate with external partners. A PhD is required; start date 01 Nov 2026; period 1.5 years.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree is required.
  • Strong background in X-ray physics, materials science or metallurgy is preferred.
  • Experience with microstructure analysis and strain analysis is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software to analyze elastic and local plastic strains from Lab-4DµXRD data.
  • Perform in situ Lab-4DµXRD experiments to follow microstructural evolution during tensile loading.
  • Conduct synchrotron experiments to validate Lab-4DµXRD results.
  • Implement crystal plasticity finite element models to understand local strain heterogeneities.
