Job summary

DTU Chemistry invites applications for a three-year PhD scholarship focusing on Hybrid Quantum Algorithms for Computational X-ray Spectroscopy on Noisy-Intermediate Scale and Early-Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computers. The project aims to develop algorithms to predict core-level spectra with relevance to materials, catalysis, and life sciences.

The candidate will collaborate with international partners, spend time at related institutions, and contribute to publications, courses, and outreach.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a two-year master\'s degree (120 ECTS) or equivalent in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Quantum Information Science.
  • Solid mathematical background and experience in quantum chemistry, computational spectroscopy, and programming.
  • Experience with quantum computing software libraries (e.g., IBM\'s Qiskit, Pennylane).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply quantum algorithms for computational X-ray spectroscopy on simulators and on NISQ/EFTQC devices.
  • Disseminate results in scientific articles and at conferences.
  • Participate in group meetings and activities.
  • Assist in teaching-related activities at the Department of Chemistry (supervision of student projects).
