Job summary

DTU Chemistry is inviting applications for a three-year PhD position focused on developing quantum algorithms for X-ray spectroscopy on noisy intermediate-scale quantum computers and early fault-tolerant devices. The PhD student will collaborate with international groups and spend time at partner institutions.

The role includes teaching-related activities and active dissemination of results. The project aims to push computational quantum chemistry to new frontiers, accelerating materials

Qualifications

  • Two-year master's degree (120 ECTS) or equivalent in Chemistry/Physics/Mathematics/CS/Quantum Information Science.
  • Solid mathematical background and experience in quantum chemistry and computational spectroscopy.
  • Experience with quantum computing software libraries like Qiskit or Pennylane.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply quantum algorithms for computational X-ray spectroscopy on simulators and quantum hardware (NISQ and EFTQC).
  • Publish results in scientific journals and present at conferences.
  • Participate in group meetings and activities; contribute to teaching-related activities.
