Job summary

DTU Physics and DTU Nanolab seek a PhD candidate to design and realize artificial superlattices in graphene and related 2D materials. You will leverage the cleanroom and microscopy facilities to imprint patterns and study the resulting electronic band structures.

You will work on assembling van der Waals heterostructures, performing nanofabrication, and analyzing data to connect structure with electronic properties, in a highly collaborative METRIQS project with national and international

Qualifications

  • Background in physics, nanotechnology, materials science, electrical engineering or related field
  • Hands-on experience with micro- or nanofabrication or comparable lab work
  • Experience with 2D materials, layout/CAD design, electron microscopy or electronic transport is an advantage

Responsibilities

  • Design superlattice geometries and device layouts using modelling and simulation.
  • Assemble hybrid van der Waals heterostructures from graphene, hBN, TMDs with controlled twist and alignment.
  • Imprint periodic patterns into 2D materials using nanofabrication techniques.
  • Fabricate devices with contacts, gates and measurement capabilities.
  • Characterise structure and electronic properties with microscopy, Raman and spectroscopy.
