Job summary

DTU Electro, part of the Technical University of Denmark, invites applications for a PhD Scholarship in Nanostructured 2D Materials and van der Waals Heterostructures for Advanced Optoelectronics. The project is funded under the Novo Nordisk Foundation NERD program “Quantum Interfaces”, focusing on synthesis, engineering, and characterization of 2D materials and heterostructures.

You will join a team including two PhD students and three postdoctoral researchers, collaborating on materials

Qualifications

  • Strong academic background in physics, nanotechnology, materials science, electrical engineering or photonics.
  • Experience with 2D materials, nanofabrication, optical spectroscopy, deterministic transfer, electron-beam lithography or cleanroom fabrication is an advantage.
  • Master's degree (120 ECTS) or equivalent is required/expected.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate 2D and van der Waals heterostructures using mechanical exfoliation, deterministic transfer, and controlled stacking of atomically thin crystals.
  • Develop nanofabrication strategies for patterning materials into nanoribbons.
  • Perform structural, optical, and optoelectronic characterization using AFM, Raman, photoluminescence, and related techniques.
  • Fabricate and characterize optoelectronic devices to study device geometry effects on photoresponse.
  • Supervise MSc/BSc projects and contribute to publications and conference talks.
