DTU in Denmark is offering a PhD opportunity to develop an open digital platform for data-centric micromanufacturing. The project focuses on building a secure data lake and plug-and-play AI microservices for predictive maintenance, process monitoring, and real-time analytics, validated on open-architecture metal powder bed fusion systems.

The candidate will work at the intersection of manufacturing engineering, AI, and software platforms, collaborating with industrial and academic partners

Qualifications

  • Two-year master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with programming and software development (Python or similar).
  • Knowledge of data engineering, database technologies, or data integration for industrial applications is required.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, data analytics, or AI methods for manufacturing applications is required.
  • Experience with manufacturing data acquisition, industrial sensors, or production monitoring is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an open digital platform for data-centric micromanufacturing transforming heterogeneous production data into actionable manufacturing intelligence.
  • Create a secure and scalable data lake integrating multimodal production data.
  • Develop AI microservices for predictive maintenance, process monitoring, and real-time analytics.
  • Validate the platform on open-architecture metal powder bed fusion systems and assess scalability and interoperability.
  • Disseminate findings through scientific publications and industrial collaborations.
