DTU is seeking a PhD candidate to develop adaptive restorative XR at the intersection of HCI, machine learning, and biosensing in a joint DTU–KTH project with extended stays at KTH. The scholarship is 3 years with enrollment in a DTU degree program and a January 2027 start.

The candidate should hold a two-year master’s degree or equivalent, have programming experience, and be able to conduct empirical user research in an international collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Two-year master's degree (120 ECTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong background in HCI/XR or related fields.
  • Programming/prototyping experience and interest in empirical user research.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate human-state-aware XR environments for stress recovery and well-being.
  • Prototype adaptive and accessible restorative XR environments.
  • Model user state from physiological and behavioural signals and design interpretable adaptations.
  • Conduct laboratory studies and longer-term field deployments.
  • Collaborate with KTH through shared studies and research stays.
