Job summary

The University of Copenhagen’s Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Zierath Group, seeks a part-time Staff Scientist to design and drive studies on molecular pathways of exercise in type 2 diabetes.

You will work on multi-omics data analysis, supervise students and staff, and coordinate in vitro and in vivo experiments, starting March 1, 2027 or later, in a dynamic international research setting.

Qualifications

• PhD in exercise physiology, molecular biomedicine, cell biology, or a related life science discipline.
• Postdoctoral experience in skeletal muscle metabolism, insulin signaling, or exercise physiology.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., gene silencing/overexpression, metabolic assays).
• Documented experience in project management and student supervision.
• Expertise with omics technologies (proteomics, phosphoproteomics, metabolomics) and multi-omics bioinformatics.
• Strong analytical skills and experience in data interpretation and statistical analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Proteomics analysis of clinical and preclinical material.
• Bioinformatics analysis of complex multi-omics data to deconvolute molecular pathways of exercise.
• Coordination of in vitro and in vivo experiments to validate identified pathways.
• Training and day-to-day support of students, postdocs, and technical staff in omics and bioinformatics approaches.
