Job summary

3Shape Copenhagen seeks an optical engineer to own the optical subsystem across scanner development projects. You will design imaging/illumination systems, specify components for external partners, and verify prototypes to ensure product readiness.

Collaborate with mechanical, electronics and software teams, balancing performance with manufacturability. On-site with one remote day per week in a dynamic MedTech environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering physics, photonics, optical engineering, physics or equivalent.
• Experience developing physical products and transferring to manufacturing.
• Strong optical fundamentals including geometrical optics and radiometry.
• Ability to model and interrogate optical designs with ray tracing.

Responsibilities

• Design, model and dimension optical imaging and illumination systems.
• Specify optical components for production by external partners.
• Build and measure prototypes and interpret results.
• Run tolerance analyses with mechanical engineers.
• Collaborate with software/electronics for calibration and image quality.
• Write specifications, analyses and verification evidence for medical devices.
