Job summary

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Aarhus University seeks a permanent staff member to lead and maintain UHV beamlines for nanoARPES experiments at the ASTRID2 facility. You will oversee the AU-SGM4 beamline and its end-station infrastructure, work with students and internal/external users, and contribute to future developments in ARPES capabilities.

Applicants should hold a master's in physics and have experience with ARPES, synchrotron beamlines, and UHV systems; a PhD is an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Physics required and PhD preferred.
  • Experience with angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) or similar.
  • Proven track record with synchrotron beamline facilities.
  • Experience in maintaining and applying UHV systems in experimental physics.

Responsibilities

  • Run and maintain ultra-high vacuum beamlines at the ASTRID2 light source.
  • Be the main responsible person for AU-SGM4 beamline and nanoARPES end-station infrastructure.
  • Support users (internal and external) during beamtimes and data handling discussions.
  • Assist in commissioning tasks, e.g., integration of the APPLE-II undulator for polarization-resolved experiments.
  • Contribute to infrastructure adjustments related to the ARPES system and connected equipment.
  • Lead development of control and analysis software for these activities.
