• Read and interpret blueprints or building plans to determine project specifications
• Measure and mark surfaces to be covered with materials such as brick stone or tile
• Mix mortar or other adhesives according to established formulas
• Lay bricks or other materials in horizontal courses using various techniques to create walls arches and other structures
• Cut or shape bricks using hammers chisels or power tools
• Install firebrick linings in industrial furnaces
• Repair and maintain existing masonry structures
