Job summary

The Danish Cancer Institute at the Danish Cancer Society invites applications for a Research Group Leader, focused on work environment and cancer. Based in Copenhagen, you will lead an internationally competitive program and advance understanding of how environment affects cancer risk and survivorship.

You will supervise researchers, secure funding, and collaborate across disciplines to translate findings for policy and practice.

Qualifications

• Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in epidemiology, public health, environmental/occupational health, medicine, biology or a related discipline.
• Strong publication record relevant to work, environment and cancer.
• Experience in obtaining external research funding.
• Experience supervising junior researchers and students with inclusive leadership.
• Experience with large data sources (registries, cohorts) and advanced epidemiological methods.
• Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Excellent English communication; Danish knowledge is not required but encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop an independent research programme on work environment and cancer.
• Supervise master and PhD students, postdocs, and researchers, fostering an inclusive, supportive culture.
• Secure external funding from national and international sources and manage grants.
• Conduct high-quality epidemiological research and publish in international journals.
• Promote collaboration within DCI and with external partners in Denmark and abroad.
• Contribute to knowledge translation and communication to policymakers and the public.
• Support open science practices and data sharing where possible.
• Contribute to DCI’s strategic development and leadership initiatives.
