Lead Planner

About the Role
Our client is a leading specialist in the delivery of large-scale mission-critical infrastructure projects across Europe. Due to continued growth and the award of a major hyperscale data centre development in Copenhagen, Denmark, they are seeking an experienced Lead Planner to take ownership of the planning and scheduling function on a flagship project.
This is a senior position responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining the integrated project programme throughout the full project lifecycle. Working closely with project leadership, commercial teams, construction managers, engineering teams, and client representatives, you will ensure the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of a complex mission-critical project.
Reporting to the Regional Planning Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving programme performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring project milestones are achieved safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all planning and scheduling activities for a major hyperscale data centre project.
- Develop, manage, and maintain detailed integrated project programmes from pre-construction through commissioning and project completion.
- Produce baseline programmes, progress updates, recovery plans, and look-ahead schedules.
- Monitor project progress against programme, identifying critical path activities, delays, and potential risks.
- Work collaboratively with project directors, construction managers, engineering teams, commercial teams, and subcontractors to ensure programme objectives are achieved.
- Provide detailed programme analysis, reporting, and performance updates to senior leadership and client stakeholders.
- Lead planning workshops and programme review meetings to ensure alignment across all project disciplines.
- Develop mitigation and recovery strategies to minimise programme impacts and maximise project efficiency.
- Coordinate procurement, design, construction, commissioning, and handover activities within the integrated programme.
- Analyse programme changes and assess the impact of variations, delays, and commercial events.
- Ensure planning processes and reporting comply with company standards and client requirements.
- Mentor and support junior planners, promoting best practice across the planning function.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, driving innovation in planning methodologies and project controls.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- 8–10+ years' experience in project planning within large-scale construction or mission-critical environments.
- Proven experience operating as a Lead Planner, Senior Planner, or Planning Manager on major construction projects.
- Strong background working for a main contractor delivering complex projects.
- Previous data centre experience is highly desirable, although candidates from pharmaceutical, semiconductor, energy, infrastructure, or major industrial construction backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
- Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 is essential.
- Experience using Microsoft Project, Power BI, and planning/reporting software is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, project controls, and earned value management.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction methodologies.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience presenting programme information to senior leadership and clients.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, collaborative project environment.
