Job summary

Performativ is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead Mission Control, guiding cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and reliability. This hands-on role involves shaping a secure-by-default, reusable platform that enables product teams to build, deploy, and operate services independently.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years in cloud infrastructure or SRE, strong AWS experience, IaC expertise with CDK/TypeScript, and a track record of mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, or similar production-focused environments.
• Experience mentoring engineers while remaining hands-on and actively contributing to code and infrastructure.
• Strong experience designing and operating production workloads on AWS, including Infrastructure as Code (CDK, Terraform).
• Strong understanding of AWS Well-Architected Framework and its practical application.
• Platform engineering mindset focused on reusable capabilities, self-service, and engineering leverage.
• Experience with incident response, SLOs, continuous improvement, and reliability practices.
• Ability to make decisions in ambiguous environments and improve engineering practices without excess process.
• Experience with fintech or regulated industries is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Mission Control while remaining deeply hands-on across cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and reliability.
• Build and evolve the default, secure-by-default platform enabling product teams to build, deploy, and operate services independently.
• Create reusable AWS CDK constructs, infrastructure standards, and golden paths to reduce complexity and improve developer experience.
• Set the technical direction for Mission Control and help the team execute.
• Strengthen reliability practices through SLOs, error budgets, runbooks, incident tooling, and post-incident improvements.
• Treat cloud cost as a first-class engineering concern by improving visibility and efficiency.
• Partner with security to build secure-by-default platform capabilities and strengthen security posture.
• Own the evolution of the engineering platform enabling every product team to operate independently.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching, and feedback to a small team of experienced platform engineers.

What You’ll Do

• Lead Mission Control while remaining deeply hands-on across cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and reliability.
• Build and evolve the default, secure-by-default platform that enables product teams to build, deploy, and operate services independently.
• Create reusable AWS CDK constructs, infrastructure standards, and golden paths that reduce complexity and improve the developer experience across engineering.
• Set the technical direction for Mission Control, making pragmatic decisions about platform evolution, reliability, and developer experience while helping the team execute.
• Strengthen our reliability practices through SLOs, error budgets, runbooks, incident tooling, and post-incident improvements that drive meaningful change.
• Treat cloud cost as a first-class engineering concern by improving visibility, eliminating waste, and designing systems that scale efficiently.
• Partner closely with our security specialists to build secure-by-default platform capabilities and continuously strengthen our security posture.
• Own the evolution of the engineering platform that enables every product team to build, deploy, and operate services independently.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching, and feedback to a small team of experienced platform engineers while remaining deeply involved in delivery.

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or similar production-focused environments.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers while remaining hands-on and actively contributing to code and infrastructure.
• Strong experience designing and operating production workloads on AWS, including Infrastructure as Code. Experience with AWS CDK and TypeScript is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and practical application of its principles.
• A platform engineering mindset focused on building reusable capabilities, self-service, and engineering leverage.
• Strong operational judgment with experience in incident response, reliability engineering, SLOs, and continuous improvement.
• Comfort owning outcomes, making decisions in ambiguous environments, and improving engineering practices without adding unnecessary process.
• Actively leverages AI and agent-assisted engineering workflows to improve productivity while applying sound engineering judgment and maintaining high quality standards.
• Experience working within fintech or other regulated industries is a plus.

• Infrastructure & Cloud: AWS CDK (TypeScript), Terraform (bonus), and modern AWS infrastructure, networking, security, governance, and observability services.
• Engineering Tooling: GitHub Actions, Docker, container pipelines, cloud cost optimization, and observability tooling.
• Wider Engineering Stack: You'll collaborate with teams building services primarily in Golang and TypeScript, alongside React, React Native, Python, and PHP.
