Job summary

IFF in Brabrand, Denmark, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support human health R&D through hands-on lab work. You will maintain mammalian cell cultures, process clinical samples, and perform molecular biology analyses in an international team.

You will contribute to establishing workflows, document experiments, and ensure quality and biosafety standards while supporting method development and routine lab operations on an onsite basis.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and handling clinical samples.
  • Experience with nucleic acid extraction, PCR, RT‑qPCR or qPCR is required.
  • Experience with ELISA and multiplex immunoassays is advantageous.

Job Summary

Ready to support cutting-edge human health research through hands‑on laboratory work? Join our Human Health R&D team in Brabrand and contribute to science‑based innovations in probiotics, postbiotics, and dietary supplements. In this maternity cover position, you will work closely with scientists and laboratory colleagues to support a variety of research activities within Human Health R&D. Your primary focus will be maintaining mammalian cell cultures, processing clinical study samples, and performing routine molecular biology and immunological analyses. You will contribute to both established laboratory workflows and ongoing research projects, ensuring that samples, experiments, and data are handled according to high scientific and quality standards. The role combines structured daily laboratory activities with opportunities to support method development, troubleshooting, and implementation of new procedures. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, excellent laboratory practices, and a collaborative mindset. You will be part of an international research environment where reliable laboratory execution, accurate documentation, and effective teamwork are essential to advancing scientific discoveries and delivering meaningful health innovations. Where You'll Make a Difference
  • Maintain mammalian cell cultures, prepare cell stocks, and support cell‑based in vitro studies.
  • Receive, register, aliquot, process, and store clinical trial samples while ensuring traceability and accurate documentation.
  • Perform routine molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, RT‑qPCR, and qPCR analyses.
  • Conduct immunological assays such as ELISA and multiplex technologies including Bio‑Plex.
  • Prepare reagents, standards, controls, and assay plates according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Support assay optimization, troubleshooting, and implementation of established methods into routine laboratory workflows.
  • Document experimental work, perform routine quality checks, and organize data for review by scientists and project teams.
  • Contribute to daily laboratory operations, including inventory management, equipment checks, reagent preparation, and laboratory housekeeping.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, biosafety, quality, and documentation requirements while supporting SOP and work instruction updates.
What Makes You The Right Fit
  • Laboratory Technician (Laborant), Biomedical Laboratory Scientist (Bioanalytiker), Academy Profession graduate in Biotechnical Science, or BSc in Biotechnology, Biology, Biomedicine, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Hands‑on experience with mammalian cell culture techniques.
  • Practical laboratory experience handling biological or clinical samples, including pipetting, aliquoting, labeling, and storage.
  • Knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR, RT‑qPCR, or qPCR.
  • Experience performing ELISA and/or multiplex immunoassays is an advantage.
  • Comfortable working with laboratory software and structured documentation systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data recording and sample handling.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize routine laboratory activities while supporting multiple projects.
  • Good written and spoken English communication skills.
