Ferrosan Medical Devices Group seeks a Laboratory Specialist to bridge hands‑on lab work with system ownership of workflows and documentation in our R&D setting. You will contribute to experimental design, QA, and cross‑functional collaboration across the Biomaterials R&D group.
The role emphasizes structured work, own initiatives, and continuous improvement of lab processes. Danish and English fluency is required, with on‑site Søborg presence and hybrid options.
Laboratory Specialist responsible for laboratory operations and systems in R&D
A hybrid laboratory technician–scientist role combining technical and scientific documentation with ownership of laboratory systems and workflows.
Would you like to combine hands‑on laboratory work with responsibility for advancing the systems and workflows that keep an R&D laboratory running effectively?
In Biomaterials R&D, we develop innovative and robust solutions within haemostatic products and biomaterials through close collaboration across the company. Our ambition is to strengthen our technical capabilities and foster a culture defined by ownership, accountability, and high standards.
We are therefore looking for a quality-conscious and self-driven Laboratory Specialist to help develop and operate our R&D laboratories. The role gives you the opportunity to contribute directly to development projects while shaping the systems and workflows that will make our laboratory operations more efficient and robust in the future.
Every two seconds, our products help surgeons and nurses control bleeding and avoid complications during surgery. For us—and in surgery—every second counts, and we need you on our team!
R&D Laboratories
R&D Laboratories is part of Biomaterials R&D within the wider R&D organisation. You will join a close‑knit team of three laboratory technicians and two student assistants, taking on a central role that connects day‑to‑day laboratory operations with the department’s development projects. The work spans the organisation and involves a broad range of physicochemical, chemical, rheological, and mechanical analytical equipment.
Your day‑to‑day work will alternate between hands‑on laboratory activities and improving laboratory operations. You will conduct and document experiments while taking ownership of solutions that create better structure, transparency, and robustness in the laboratory.
You will typically be part of one or more project teams, contributing practical laboratory experience and an understanding of robust workflows. Your responsibilities will include planning and conducting R&D feasibility studies, contributing to experimental design, preparing and reviewing protocols and reports, and actively participating in project meetings and workshops.
As part of the laboratory team, you will share responsibility for day‑to‑day operations and the continuous improvement of laboratory workflows. Your tasks will include equipment qualification, calibration, and servicing; handling of laboratory related change requests and quality notifications; preparing instructions and experimental documentation; sample handling; purchasing; and chemical management in EcoOnline. You will also prepare and maintain chemical risk assessments and supervise student assistants and laboratory technician trainees. In addition, you will establish and maintain solutions for equipment and service tracking, inventory and sample management, planning, documentation, and follow‑up—and train colleagues to use them.
Hands‑on laboratory experience and a flair for systems
We are looking for a positive and professionally grounded colleague who thrives on both hands‑on laboratory work and developing the systems that keep the laboratory running. You work in a structured and independent manner, follow through on your tasks, and can turn a need into a simple, practical workflow. It is essential that you are energised by continuously optimising and simplifying workflows and that coordination comes naturally to you. At the same time, you are quality‑conscious, observant, and detail‑oriented, and you are motivated by collaborating with laboratory technicians, scientists, and other functions across the organisation.
In addition, you have the following qualifications:
Location Søborg, Denmark. We offer flexibility through a hybrid work model, while recognizing that regular on‑site presence is an important part of building strong relationships, supporting cross‑functional collaboration.
