Job summary

Norlys Energy Trading A/S is seeking an Intraday Asset Trader to optimise our portfolio in the live intraday power market, focusing on wind and solar assets. From day one you will trade, assess risk and identify opportunities as market conditions, forecasts, and asset production change.

You will join a 24/7 intraday trading environment, collaborating with meteorology and operations, with potential to influence areas from the start.

Qualifications

• Strong numerical skills and ability to assess information quickly.
• Background as a recent MSc graduate or experience within intraday trading; neither is a strict requirement.
• Curiosity and motivation to keep learning; entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsibilities

• Trade and optimise wind and solar assets in the intraday market.
• Monitor forecasts and live production data and assess impact.
• Make fast, calculated risk decisions.
• Quantify weather developments and their impact on production and positioning.
• Identify opportunities, execute them, and help automate approaches.
• Collaborate with trading, meteorology, and operations.
• Develop and test hypotheses, including coding where relevant.
• Take part in shift rotation covering day, evening and weekend shifts.

As an Intraday Asset Trader, you will optimise NET’s asset portfolio in the live intraday power market. From day one, you will trade, assess risk and identify opportunities as market conditions, forecasts, and asset production change.

The team

You will join our Intraday Asset Trading team, responsible for the intraday optimisation of NET’s asset portfolio, with a particular focus on wind and solar assets.

The team monitors forecasts and live asset data as part of a 24/7 setup and works closely with colleagues across proprietary trading, automated trading, meteorology, and trading operations. We take a market-first approach and continuously look for ways to improve how we trade.

The role

Your focus will be to understand what is happening in the intraday power market and turn that information into trading and risk decisions. As NET’s asset footprint grows, continuous optimisation becomes increasingly important.

You will start trading from your first day. If you bring relevant experience, there may be scope to influence the area from the start. If you are newer to trading, you will learn quickly alongside skilled colleagues.

Key responsibilities

During your shifts, you will combine market information, weather forecasts, and live asset data to act on changing conditions.

• Trade and optimise NET’s wind and solar asset portfolio in the intraday power market.
• Monitor forecasts and live production data and assess their potential impact.

• Quantify weather developments and understand their impact on renewable production and positioning.
• Identify opportunities, execute them, and help turn successful approaches into more automated solutions.
• Collaborate with colleagues across trading, meteorology, and operations.
• Develop and test hypotheses, including through coding where relevant.
• Take part in shift rotation covering day, evening and weekend shifts.

Following a live intraday power market that reflects what is happening in the physical power system is one of the most exciting parts of this role. The market can be highly volatile, and you need to enjoy that volatility, act on opportunities and stay sharp as conditions change.
