Job summary

Kanpla is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead Admin and CORE, owning people, capacity, and delivery. You’ll stay hands-on 20–30% of your time, reading code and guiding architecture.

You’ll partner with Product and senior engineers, remove bottlenecks, hire, and shape the career framework as Kanpla scales across Europe.

This role offers flexible hours, remote or in-office options in multiple cities, and a strong culture of learning.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a team of engineers.
• Hands-on engineering background, preferably TypeScript/Node.js, able to review designs.
• Excellent communicator across a distributed team.
• Track record partnering with Product and engineering leadership.
• Motivation to build and grow an engineering organization.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Admin and CORE teams: regular one-on-ones and growth plans.
• Own capacity and staffing across both teams.
• Partner with Product Managers on delivery, sequencing and trade-offs.
• Collaborate with other Engineering Managers on cross-team initiatives.
• Help define and grow technical leadership on the IC track.
• Hire and run hiring for your teams as we grow.
• Remove bottlenecks and empower teams to run themselves.
• Contribute to the career framework being built this autumn.
