Job summary

Ammisorb in Denmark is seeking a Development Engineer to lead the design, assembly, and testing of next-generation ammonia sorption systems. You’ll own subsystem development from concept to prototype, collaborating with mechanical, process, and automation teams.

You will work hands-on with 3D CAD, create BOMs, and ensure safe, compliant operation while advancing field-ready solutions. The role offers early ownership in a DTU spinout focused on greener ammonia systems.

Qualifications

• MSc or BSc in mechanical, process or energy engineering or related field
• 2–5 years designing and building process or thermal equipment in R&D or industry
• Experience with 3D CAD tools and practical engineering design
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, piping, and experimental systems
• Prototype or pilot-scale systems experience is an advantage

Responsibilities

• Drive design and development of next-generation ammonia sorption systems and absorber units based on data from prototypes
• Lead mechanical and process design including P&IDs, piping layouts, heat integration, and subsystem development
• Prepare CAD models, technical drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation
• Own assembly, integration, and troubleshooting of experimental setups and prototype systems
• Identify, evaluate, and procure components for prototype and pilot-scale systems
• Coordinate technical implementation with automation and control engineers
• Support field testing activities and collaboration with external partners and suppliers
• Lead safety assessments and implement safe engineering practices in design and operation
• Independently propose and develop technical solutions for subsystems and challenges
• Support project coordination related to prototype development and testing
