Job description

We are looking for a Group Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Engineer to join the Group HSE function supporting our businesses across multiple countries. While this is a Group-level position with an international scope, your day-to-day workplace will be Aalborg Portland, where you will work closely with the Nordic & Baltic region while collaborating with HSE teams across our Group. You will report directly to our Group HSE Director.

In this role, you will support the continuous development and implementation of our Environmental Management System and contribute to strengthening Health & Safety practices across our operations. You will work with colleagues across the organization to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and ISO standards, improve sustainability performance, and provide technical expertise for strategic Group initiatives and reporting.

Your responsibilities

Working closely with Group and local stakeholders, you will help drive HSE excellence by:

  • Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of our Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Monitoring environmental performance, regulatory compliance, and key sustainability KPIs across the Group.
  • Supporting environmental audits, inspections, risk assessments, and permitting activities.
  • Contributing to Group sustainability reporting, including environmental and ESG data for internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Providing technical support on environmental legislation, compliance, and strategic HSE initiatives.
  • Collaborating with local teams to strengthen environmental awareness and promote a strong safety culture across our operations.
  • Supporting the development of environmental and H&S roadmaps, improvement projects, and best practices.
About you

You are passionate about environmental sustainability and creating safe, responsible industrial workplaces. You enjoy working across different cultures and functions, combining technical expertise with a collaborative approach to drive continuous improvement.

You also bring:

  • A degree in Environmental Engineering, HSE, or a related discipline, combined with 3–5 years of experience in an HSE or environmental role within manufacturing, construction, heavy industry, or an international industrial environment.
  • Solid knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, as well as relevant EU environmental and sustainability legislation (including IED, WFD, EIA, ETS/CBAM, and CSRD/ESRS), with experience in environmental audits, inspections, permitting processes, compliance, and sustainability reporting.
  • Experience working with environmental assessment tools (such as WRI Aqueduct, IBAT, or similar), environmental performance monitoring, and the development of KPIs and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and fluency in English. You are passionate about promoting environmental sustainability and fostering a strong safety culture, and you are willing to travel internationally (approximately 60%) to support our Group production sites.
Why join us?

This is an opportunity to make a real impact on the environmental performance and safety culture of an international industrial Group. Based at Aalborg Portland, you will work with colleagues across multiple countries, contribute to strategic sustainability and HSE initiatives, and help shape the future of responsible manufacturing across our operations.

We offer a position in an ambitious, international company with high professionalism and an informal culture that fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and autonomy. You will be part of a workplace where your personal and professional development is in focus – and with great career opportunities for the right profile.

The preferred start date is as soon as possible.
