Job summary

Contera Pharma in Hørsholm seeks a finance professional to join a small team, partnering with the CFO to drive project budgeting, reporting, and financial controls. You will support rolling forecasts, ensure timely closes, and refine financial models for better visibility across campaigns.

The role offers 30–37 hours per week with flexibility, allowing influence on structuring your working day while contributing to a growth-driven biotech environment.

Qualifications

• A relevant financial education at least bachelor level or equivalent.
• Solid hands-on experience owning a full set of financials and managing operational processes end-to-end.
• Experience working with Danish accounting standards.
• Genuine interest in building and improving financial models.
• Strong analytical ability and ability to communicate financials to stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
• Interest in working in a scale-up where tasks evolve and everyone contributes to challenges.
• Attention to detail; proactively identifying and rectifying errors.
• Independence in structuring work and autonomy with support as needed.
• Fluency in English.
• Strong capabilities in Excel and financial systems; curiosity about how AI and digitalization can drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Project controlling: act as finance partner to clinical and research leads; support rolling budgets; ensure clear financial visibility across projects.
• Budget tracking & variance analysis: monthly performance tracking against budget and follow-ups.
• Day-to-day accounting & bookkeeping coordination: contact for external bookkeepers; ensure timely month-end, quarter-end, year-end closes.
• Financial reporting: prepare internal reports and support external reporting, including audits.
• Process & model improvement: continuously identify and implement improvements to finance processes, budgets, and forecasting tools.

The role

The finance team consists of you and the CFO and you will work in close collaboration across two distinct dimensions: acting as a finance partner to internal and external stakeholders and keeping the operational finance engine running with precision.

Your Primary Tasks

• Project controlling. Act as finance partner to our clinical and research project leads; support rolling budgets, build structure around follow-up routines, and ensure clear financial visibility across projects
• Budget tracking & variance analysis. Monthly performance tracking against budget, variance analyses, and follow-up
• Day-to-day accounting & bookkeeping coordination. Point of contact for our external bookkeepers. Own day-to-day operational accounting processes and ensure timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
• Financial reporting. Prepare internal reporting and support external reporting requirements, including audit coordination with external partners
• Process & model improvement. Continuously identify and implement improvements to our finance processes, budget models, and forecasting tools

What we are looking for

• A relevant financial education of at least bachelor level or equivalent
• Solid hands-on experience in owning a full set of financials and managing operational processes end-to-end
• Experience working with Danish accounting standards
• A genuine interest in building and improving financial models
• Strong analytical instinct and ability to communicate financials to stakeholders with other educational backgrounds
• Excited about working in a scale-up company where all tasks are not known in advance and where everyone contributes to solving challenges as they arise
• Attention to detail; you proactively identify and rectify errors
• Independence in structuring your work, raising issues early, and working autonomously with support as needed
• Fluency in English
• Strong capabilities in Excel and financial systems and a curious mindset on how AI and digitalization can drive improvements in processes

It is a strong plus if you have

• Experience in pharma or biotech
• Familiarity with e-conomic, Corpay, and Pleo
• Proven track record of enhancing financial models and reporting tools
