Job summary

Maersk Training’s central finance function in Denmark is seeking a Finance Controller based in Svendborg. You will be a key player in the global finance team, reporting to the CFO and collaborating with regional Finance Managers, HQ Finance Business Partnering, and the Chennai SSC.

The role blends group-wide financial controlling, ad-hoc analysis, and continuous improvement with a strong emphasis on collaboration, data quality, and business understanding across regions and entities, including

Qualifications

  • Strong experience within finance controlling and/or 2-4 years as auditor.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements, performance management, and cash flow.
  • Experience from an international, multi-entity organisation is an advantage.
  • Experience with process optimizations and efficiency gains, e.g. through AI, will be a benefit.

Responsibilities

  • Group finance controlling and consolidated reporting across the Maersk Training Group.
  • CFO support / right‑hand role with ad‑hoc analyses and management material.
  • Collaboration with HQ Finance Business Partnering for forecasting and performance management.
  • Coordinate with Finance Shared Service Center in Chennai on Master Data and reporting quality.
  • Drive optimization and efficiency gains across finance processes and upstream business processes.

Job description

We are looking for a strong Finance Controller to join Maersk Training’s central finance function, based in Svendborg, Denmark.

In the role you will become a key player in the Maersk Training Finance team with direct reference to our CFO and an important role in the global finance team, working closely with regional Finance Managers in our 5 regions, central Finance Business Partnering colleagues, and the skilled team in our Finance Shared Service Center in Chennai, India.

The position combines group‑wide financial controlling, ad‑hoc analysis, and continuous improvement, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, accountability, and business understanding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Group finance controlling – As part of the month end and annual close processes, contribute to driving financial controlling and performance transparency across the Maersk Training Group, support consolidated reporting, variance analysis, and follow‑up across entities, and ensure consistent financial logic, data quality, and comparability across regions.

  • CFO support / right‑hand role - Act as a trusted sparring partner to the CFO on optimization initiatives, ad hoc financial analyses and decision support, preparing ad‑hoc analyses, business cases, and management material, also towards executive colleagues or as support to Board level discussions.

  • Collaboration with HQ Finance Business Partnering - work closely with the Finance Business Partnering team in HQ to support performance management, forecasting, and strategic initiatives by translating business and operational questions into robust financial analyses.

  • Collaborate with the Finance Shared Service Center in Chennai - on select issues of Master Data improvements, reporting quality, process alignment, and support continuous improvement of finance processes and ways of working across Regions, HQ and SSC by process analysis and as driver of optimization changes and simplifications of workflows.

  • Optimization and efficiency gains are in focus for us and being pursued by improvement of processes and master data across finance processes and upstream business processes. A material role in this is also part of the position. Initiatives on the current active list includes implementation of PO process in BC, increasing use of BC functionality for bank reconciliations, improved processes across functions etc.

As part of the onboarding there is also a unique opportunity to get a deeper hands‑on insight into the Danish legal entity financials by being part of a paternity cover together with other HQ finance colleagues during the first 1-2 months, depending on joining date.

We are looking for
Professional background
  • Strong experience within finance controlling, and/or 2-4 years as auditor

  • Solid understanding of financial statements, performance management, and cash flow

  • Experience from an international, multi‑entity organisation is an advantage

  • Solid insight into ERP and preferably Business Central, to ease understanding and prioritization of optimisations

  • Experience with process optimizations and efficiency gains e.g. through AI will be a benefit

Education
  • Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or similar
