Job summary

Ascendis Pharma A/S is seeking a Head of Europe financial control and governance to join our Denmark-based team. You will oversee regional governance, assurance and coordination across European entities, reporting to the Head of Europe Finance Operations in Munich.

Qualifications

• Degree in business/finance; MBA or equivalent preferred.
• 10+ years in accounting, financial operations, monthly close, and external/auditors controls.
• 5+ years in external/internal audit or controllership in international environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, internal controls, audit, and European regulatory requirements.
• Professional qualification such as CPA/ACCA/etc. preferred.
• Experience strengthening controls, redesigning processes, and simplifying workflows.
• Experience across O2C, P2P, R2R, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Compliance, and Finance Systems.
• Interest in ERP, analytics, automation, AI, or digital finance; Dynamics 365 advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead regional governance and assurance across Europe; oversee accounting, reporting, control and compliance.
• Coordinate statutory reporting and external audits; ensure close and internal controls are robust.
• Navigate country-specific requirements; work with Tax, Legal, Compliance, Treasury and process owners.
• Drive launch and change readiness for new markets and entities; assess impacts on processes and data.
• Simplify workflows; reduce country variations and manual workarounds; implement scalable solutions.
• Leverage technology, AI and automation; partner with Finance Systems to deliver value.
