Job description

Hansen Toft is seeking a Director, Product Management on behalf of Systematic A/S.

Do you want a role with a clear sense of purpose, working with mission-critical technology that supports defence organisations and their ability to operate, collaborate and make well-informed decisions in complex environments?

Systematic has experienced significant growth in recent years, with the Defence business playing a key role in this development. Increasing international defence investments, growing requirements for data sovereignty and information security, and a continued need for advanced decision-support solutions are creating new opportunities across the market.

As part of this ongoing development, Systematic is strengthening the leadership around its IRIS Suite and Mobile portfolio. As Director, Product Management, you will take overall responsibility for IRIS Suite, SitaWare Frontline, and SitaWare Edge and lead an experienced Product Management team of eight employees, with plans to expand the team further. Your responsibilities include people leadership, product strategy, and the commercial development of the portfolio.

You will set the direction for the portfolio, translate customer and market needs into clear product priorities, and ensure a strong business rationale for future investments and development initiatives. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Product Management, Defence, you will work closely with senior management, technical functions, and commercial teams as well as strategic customers, giving you a central role in key product and investment decisions.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Execute the strategic direction for the IRIS Suite and Mobile portfolios and translate it into clear product roadmaps and development priorities.
  • Drive the commercial development of the portfolio, including business plans, market priorities, and long-term growth opportunities.
  • Lead and develop the product management team, taking responsibility for results, competencies, resources, and long-term capacity.
  • Prepare business analyses, budgets, and investment proposals, and present recommendations to Product Boards and other relevant decision-making bodies.
  • Maintain a close dialogue with customers and operational end-users and translate their needs into product priorities and development initiatives.
  • Identify and evaluate new products, features, markets, and business models in collaboration with the innovation department and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the sales, marketing, and technical departments on strategic customer opportunities, major proposals, and product expansions.
  • Monitor the portfolio’s performance and use insights into the market, customers, and the business to adjust priorities and support key product decisions.
Who are you?

You have a relevant degree in engineering, software, computer science, electronics, or a related field such as Business Development Engineering, combining technology with commercial insights.

You bring solid experience from working in a product-driven software company where software is the core business, preferably from a role combining Product Management, commercial responsibility, and leadership. You have proven management experience in building high-performing teams, strong business acumen, and the ability to connect customer needs, product strategy, market opportunities, and investment priorities.

You are not expected to be the leading technical specialist, but you understand complex software products well enough to engage credibly with specialists and make informed product and business decisions.

As a leader, you are pragmatic, curious, and action-oriented. You set a clear direction, build trust, challenge constructively, and give experienced specialists the space to leverage their expertise, while maintaining ownership of key decisions and overall priorities.

You must be able to present a clean criminal record and have lived in a NATO and/or an EU country for the past seven years, as Systematic works with security-classified projects.

Influence the direction of mission-critical software

This position gives you significant influence over the development and prioritisation of a strategically important portfolio within one of Systematic's key growth areas. You will be closely involved in key product and investment decisions and have the opportunity to shape both the portfolio and the continued development of the product management organisation.

At the same time, you will become part of a well-established international software company with a strong position in the defence sector and long-standing relationships with national defence organisations, NATO, and international partners.

Most importantly, you will work with mission-critical software that supports defence organisations in establishing situational awareness, coordinating operations, and making well-informed decisions across land, air, sea, and joint domains.
