Director

CMC Analysis & Characterisation

CMC Analytical Execution & Technology

Location: Måløv

Your impact begins here - Set the direction. Accelerate delivery. Transform analytical execution.

Are you a bold and inspiring leader who can turn complexity into clear direction and strong results? As Director of CMC Analytical Execution & Technology (AET), you will lead a multidisciplinary organisation of approximately 150 employees, ensure reliable analytical delivery across a growing development portfolio, and shape the future of automation, digitalisation, and analytical technology. This is an opportunity to combine visible operational leadership with strategic influence - and build the people, partnerships, and capabilities that will advance medicines from development to patients.

What You’ll Do

As Director for CMC AET, you will lead a multi-disciplinary area consisting of five operational analytical teams, one IT team, and one Technology Engineering team. Together, these teams are responsible for delivering analytical results across the entire development project portfolio, while driving digitalization, automation, and technology advancement across the area. You will ensure reliable, compliant, and efficient operations through strong leadership, clear prioritization, robust resource planning, and close collaboration with key stakeholders.

At the same time, you will define and execute the strategic roadmap for analytical execution, digital capabilities, and technology innovation, ensuring scalable solutions and future-ready capabilities that support an expanding portfolio and increasing business complexity.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Lead people and organisational capability: set a clear direction, develop leaders and talents, and build a high-performing organisation with the capabilities required to support current and future business needs.
  • Drive performance and execution excellence: ensure reliable, compliant, and timely analytical delivery through strong operational leadership, clear accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Set strategic direction: define and drive the long-term strategy for analytical execution, validation, release readiness, and technology enablement, balancing business priorities, future capability needs, and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead and build strategic partnerships: establish trusted stakeholder relations across the value chain and create alignment around priorities, capacity, risks, and resource investments to enable successful portfolio delivery.
  • Shape the future through technology and innovation: define the vision and strategic direction for automation, digitalisation, and future ways of working across AnaC. Influence organisational priorities and investments to build the capabilities needed to meet future portfolio and business demands.

Your success requires a visible, hands‑on operational leadership profile combined with strong strategic judgement. You stay close to execution performance, use KPIs and lead-time data to drive action, identify risks and constraints early, and work proactively with stakeholders to remove barriers and protect delivery. With full decision authority, you set objectives with significant functional impact and take accountability for people decisions, operational performance, strategic capability development, and successful project transfers from Research to Global Manufacturing & Supply.

You report to the Vice President (VP) of CMC Analysis & Characterisation (AnaC) and will be part of the leadership team in AnaC.

Who You’ll Work With

CMC AnaC is responsible for analytical development, characterisation, bioanalysis, stability, comparability, validation, release and lifecycle analytical support across Novo's product portfolio.

The department is accountable for strong day‑to‑day analytical execution, predictable delivery, and transparent performance management, while strategically developing the automation, digital solutions, technologies, and capabilities required for the future analytical landscape.

We offer a dynamic and fast paced environment where operational excellence, innovation, and collaboration go hand in hand. We take ownership, challenge the status quo, and are committed to delivering high‑quality analytical support to patients and the business.

What You’ll Bring

  • An MSc (minimum) and + 5 years of relevant experience, with significant experience within QC, analytical development or other relevant CMC or Product Supply disciplines.
  • + 5 years of proven leadership experience with the ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and deliver results at a strategic level. Senior leadership experience is a requirement.
  • Broad cross‑functional experience within CMC Development, with strong organisational understanding and the ability to influence at VP level.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific and strategic topics to senior management.
  • A demonstrated track record of driving change, challenging the status quo, and improving business outcomes.
  • A strong Lean mindset and experience applying continuous improvement principles to simplify workflows, reduce lead times, improve capacity utilisation and build sustainable operational performance.

You lead with confidence, energy, and trust, creating clarity in complexity and belief in times of uncertainty. You set a strong tone of ownership and optimism - you've got this - and lead in line with Novo leadership behaviours by delivering on commitments, developing others, challenging constructively, and making decisions for the greater good.

What You Can Expect Here

At Novo, you can expect a role where your scientific judgement matters, your ideas are listened to, and your work helps move complex development projects forward.
