Job description

Are you passionate about transactions and keen to take on real deal ownership from day one? We are looking for either a Transaction Manager or Deputy Transaction Manager to join our M&A and Asset Financing team at our headquarters in Søborg, Copenhagen. Experience in renewable energy or infrastructure transactions will be considered a strong advantage.

European Energy is a growing company in the renewable energy sector. We are a privately owned Danish company founded in 2004, with our headquarters in Copenhagen. We develop, construct, and operate solar (PV) and wind energy projects globally, as well as Power-to-X projects. In addition, we explore new technologies, including battery energy storage, biogas, and carbon capture. As part of this, we are highly active in M&A activities across the entire value chain.

Our core values form the foundation of everything we do: In It Together, Trust and Courage, Ambition, Excitement, Inclusion, and Agility.

The Team You will join our M&A and Asset Financing team, currently 36 committed colleagues including two student assistants, based at our headquarters in Søborg, Copenhagen. We are responsible for managing divestments and financing of our assets, and we lead all project and portfolio divestments, partnerships, and financing transactions from origination to closing, including financial modelling, investor management, and negotiations with investors and banks.

How you will create an impact

Depending on your experience, you will join as either a Transaction Manager or Deputy Transaction Manager. In both cases, you will be an active member of a deal team working across multiple live transactions — taking on meaningful ownership of deals from an early stage, with the scope of that ownership growing with your seniority.

As a Transaction Manager, you will act as a primary point of contact throughout the deal lifecycle, driving execution across internal approvals, due diligence, investor outreach, negotiations, and closing.

As a Deputy Transaction Manager, you will be an integral support to the deal leading on strategically important transactions while building direct responsibility for specific workstreams.

In both roles, we value colleagues who actively share knowledge and take responsibility for building skills within the department – particularly in supporting the development of more junior colleagues.

Core responsibilities
  • Taking active ownership of transactions and driving deal execution from origination to closing
  • Run the external divestment outreach process including engaging in close investor talks
  • Preparing and maintaining financial models for wind, solar, Power-to-X, and battery storage projects globally
  • Structuring and managing Virtual Data Rooms (VDRs) and coordinating due diligence processes
  • Preparing marketing materials, information memoranda, and investor presentations
  • Preparing M&A assumptions and project business cases based on market and investor feedback
  • Collaborating with legal, tax, and project development teams to ensure alignment across transaction phases
  • Maintaining close dialogue with investors, banks, and key internal and external stakeholders
  • Driving SPA and transaction document negotiations and taking lead responsibility for investor management throughout the deal (at Transaction Manager level)
To thrive in the role

To thrive in the role you bring 3–5 years of experience for a Deputy Transaction Manager and 5+ years for a Transaction Manager, either within M&A, corporate finance, or investment management — ideally with exposure to renewable energy or infrastructure transactions

Requirements and qualifications
  • A master's degree in finance, Business Administration, Economics, or similar — or equivalent experience
  • Solid financial modelling skills and advanced Excel proficiency, especially within DCF and/or PF models.
  • Strong project management, presentation and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Fluency in English, oral and written.
  • Additional languages are an advantage.
  • A proactive, commercially minded personality with a genuine interest in the energy transition and financial markets
We offer
  • Direct involvement in high-profile M&A and financing transactions in the renewable energy sector
  • Close collaboration with senior colleagues and meaningful deal ownership from day one
  • A culture of knowledge sharing and international collaboration across 21+ countries
  • Flexible work policy and a diverse, inclusive work environment
  • Opportunities for career advancement in a growing company and sector
  • Our company provides six weeks of paid annual leave, a subsidized lunch scheme, employee discounts on glasses, furniture, and massage, free access to a gym, a mobile phone for both professional and personal use, and access to professional development opportunities, including on-the-job learning, internal and external training, and networking.
