Job summary

Emerson’s SmartPropulsion team in Aalborg seeks a Data Solutions Developer to build data models, APIs, and analytics tools that optimize propulsion systems for large vessels.

You will transform vessel data into scalable solutions using PostgreSQL, Python, and cloud platforms, collaborating across teams to deliver dashboards and insights for customers and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for a Data Solutions Developer to join our growing SmartPropulsion team in Aalborg. You will develop data models, APIs, analytical solutions, and internal tools supporting the optimization of propulsion systems for large sea-going vessels.

You will contribute to Emerson Smart-Propulsion and Aperio Insight, our cloud-based business intelligence platform, transforming vessel data into scalable solutions and valuable customer insights.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Develop and maintain PostgreSQL data models supporting marine applications and analytical products.

• Design, build, and maintain APIs for vessel data, models, and related services.

• Create and maintain digital vessel models using onboard and third-party data.

• Develop data products, including predictive maintenance models, KPIs, and operational insights.

• Build visualizations and internal tools using Streamlit or similar technologies.

• Collaborate with Customer Success, Sales, and development colleagues in a sprint-based environment.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• At least three years of relevant experience in software development, data engineering, or data science.

• Advanced experience with Python, PostgreSQL, and relational data modelling.

• Experience developing APIs and deploying data visualizations or internal applications.

• Experience with data science tools such as PyTorch, CUDA, or scikit-learn.

• Professional proficiency in English and experience developing in Linux environments.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

• Knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-based data platforms.

• Experience with Rust or another systems programming language.

• Experience working with operational, industrial, or time-series data.

• Knowledge of predictive maintenance, performance optimization, or condition monitoring.

• Familiarity with maritime systems, vessels, or industrial applications.

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, and verification.
