Job summary

Mover Systems in Denmark is seeking a Data Science Manager to lead a team of data scientists and engineers, shaping roadmaps and delivering scalable ML solutions for route planning.

You will mentor, drive production-grade experiments, and communicate complex ML concepts to stakeholders while maintaining high quality and fast delivery. This role blends hands-on analytics with leadership in a fast-paced logistics tech company.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative field.
• 8+ years in data science or ML, with 3+ years in people management.
• Proven track record mentoring data scientists and engineers.
• Strong CS/ML fundamentals, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization techniques.
• Experience applying knowledge to real-world problems.
• Able to switch between hands-on work and leadership.

Are you passionate about solving complex challenges with real-world impact using state-of-the-art models and algorithms? We are seeking a Data Science Manager to join our team. In this high-impact role you will lead a team of data scientists and engineers to architect, deploy and operationalize advanced algorithms and machine learning models that drive our state-of-the-art route planning capability. You will guide your team to deliver accurate, scalable and efficient solutions for thousands of drivers every day. As our Data Science Manager, you will shape how the function grows, and have a truly outsized impact on our product and the value we bring to our customers.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead and manage a team of Data Scientists and Software Engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, scientific rigor, and operational excellence

• Define the data science roadmap, and help decide where the team can create the most value for the product and our customers

• Dive deep into the work as a player-coach to guide hard technical calls and unblock the team

• Drive architecture decisions including model selection, feature engineering from product catalogs, and evaluation metric frameworks

• Translate ambiguous customer problems into well-scoped data science and ML workstreams

• Establish and monitor classification metrics, model performance KPIs, and production health dashboards to ensure continuous improvement

• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical customers, stakeholders and leadership

• Mentor and develop team members through career coaching, technical guidance, and structured growth plans

• Drive operational rigor ensuring zero-disruption deployments, data quality standards, and robust experimentation practices

About You

• A Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, mathematics, physics, statistics, machine learning or equivalent quantitative field

• 8+ years of experience in data science or applied machine learning, with 3+ years in a people management role

• Proven track record of leading, mentoring and managing other data scientists and/or engineers

• Knowledge of Computer Science and Machine Learning fundamentals, including training/inference lifecycles, and optimization techniques. You have a large tool-box

• Practical skill and experience applying your knowledge to messy, real-world problems

• Comfort switching between hands-on technical work and people leadership

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Genuine curiosity about customers and product

• Strong programming proficiency in Python and SQL, and preferably familiarity with airflow, docker, duckdb, dbt, spark, mlflow.

What Does Success Look Like?

• After 6 months at Mover Systems you have helped launched a new data product.
