Job summary

Danske Commodities is seeking a data governance and data management specialist who will translate business needs into clear direction, responsibilities, and practical actions for managing data across the organisation.

You will lead initiatives to improve data quality, ownership, and governance, partner with product teams, and help embed a data-driven culture with pragmatic processes and minimal bureaucracy.

Here’s what the job entails

In this role, you will translate business needs into clear direction, responsibilities, and practical actions for managing data effectively. You will act as a subject matter expert and change leader, helping the organisation move towards stronger ownership, better data quality, and more reliable use of data.

More specifically, your responsibilities include:

• shaping and evolving the data management approach in partnership with relevant stakeholders
• translating the approach into focused initiatives that build capability and demonstrate value
• defining responsibilities, decision rights, ownership, stewardship, and escalation paths for data management in a product-oriented organisation
• building adoption by engaging, educating, and enabling product teams, business owners, and data stewards

Meet your team

You will join our Enterprise Architecture & Data Governance team, and our responsibility spans across the entire organisation. The team is developing the data management capability from an early stage, so this role will have a genuine opportunity to shape how the discipline is established and adopted.

We are a team of specialists in Enterprise Architecture, Data Management, and Governance, working on issues that cut across the organisation. We are building and maturing capabilities, not simply operating established processes. This means there is room to shape direction and make a visible difference.

We value pragmatic process over theoretical perfection, and we aim to introduce enough structure to improve outcomes without creating unnecessary bureaucracy. We work through influence, collaboration, and clear reasoning. We challenge ourselves constructively and help teams turn good intentions into practical change.

As you will be responsible for your own deliverable and expected to drive things forward and challenge when needed, we imagine that you enjoy an independent approach and thrive with responsibility. You will work with stakeholders across different levels of the organisation, so you should also be a trusted partner who can translate complex data management topics into clear decisions and keep momentum when organisational change is challenging.

Furthermore, we imagine that you:

• have experience shaping and implementing data management, data governance, or data strategy in a complex organisation
• have experience designing operating models, decision rights, ownership structures, governance frameworks, or capability roadmaps
• have a solid understanding of core data management disciplines, such as data quality, metadata, ownership, stewardship, master/reference data, and data sharing
• have experience working with product-oriented, agile, or cross-functional teams and translating enterprise direction into practical adoption
• are a great communicator and facilitator, with the ability to engage both senior leadership and hands-on delivery teams

Please note that prior knowledge of the energy sector is not required for this role.
