Job summary

ECCO Sko A/S is building an enterprise data platform in Copenhagen to support data-driven decisions, analytics, and AI use‑cases. You will contribute to scalable data pipelines, work with cutting‑edge technology, and collaborate across business areas to enable ECCO’s operations through data.

You will join a skilled Data Engineering team in a dynamic, international environment with opportunities to influence architecture and use of modern data tools.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in science/engineering.
• Proficient in Python.
• Knowledge of at least one OO or functional language.
• Strong SQL knowledge.
• Experience in analytical data warehousing.
• Hands-on with ETL/ELT pipelines at scale.
• Experience with Airflow and dbt for data pipelines.
• Ideally experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
• Experience with data observability generally.
• Interest in computation performance.
• Proactive in documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Excellent communication in English; Danish a plus.

Job profile

You will join highly skilled colleagues on the Data Engineering team in the Data & AI tech hub in Copenhagen. The team is at the forefront of data engineering workflows and capabilities within the ECCO Group, driving an ambitious strategy to fundamentally improve how ECCO’s operations based on data.

As a Data Engineer, you will contribute your technical expertise and software development skills to the success of ECCO’s enterprise data platform and the use‑cases it enables. You will work both technically and functionally to build and operate scalable, reliable, and durable data solutions and pipelines utilising Data & AI’s existing and future platform technologies.

In this role, you will:

• design, develop, deploy, and operate data pipelines ensuring timely and accurate data availability,
• deploy and maintain systems that store and process data,
• actively improve data ingestion software and workflows,
• monitor systems for operability and proactively resolve issues,
• debug complex data systems effectively,
• measure and improve query performance,
• manage data throughout its lifecycle from source system to user consumption,
• actively exchange ideas with team members to align on architecture choices,
• collaborate with cross‑functional teams across various business areas.

Personal profile

You are ambitious, self‑driven and resourceful. Developing solutions within a team and tackling challenges drives you. With your creative can‑do mindset and diligence, you can ensure robust and scalable data pipelines.

We imagine that you:

• hold a master's degree or PhD within science and engineering, e.g. computer science, physics, software engineering or electrical engineering,
• have professional experience using Python,
• have good knowledge in at least one object‑oriented or functional programming language,
• demonstrate a good understanding of SQL,
• have experience in analytical data warehousing,
• demonstrate hands‑on experience implementing ETL (or ELT) pipelines at scale,
• have hands‑on experience with data pipeline (Airflow is preferred) and data build tools (dbt is preferred),
• are ideally experienced with Infrastructure‑as‑Code, e.g., Terraform,
• are ideally experienced with data observability generally,
• have some interest in computation performance,
• take initiative and are proactive in documentation of solutions and knowledge sharing,
• have excellent communication skills and proficiency in English; fluency in Danish is a plus.
