Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking a Data Centre Commissioning Manager for a 6-12 month freelance engagement in Denmark. You will lead the commissioning of a major hyperscale data centre, overseeing electrical, mechanical, HVAC and control systems and directing cross‑functional teams through pre‑commissioning, testing and final handover.

The role requires a proven track record in end-to-end commissioning, strong leadership, and excellent stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading end-to-end commissioning on large-scale engineering projects.
• Experience developing commissioning execution plans and testing frameworks.
• Strong leadership directing multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
• Deep understanding of integrated mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and control systems (BMS/SCADA/PLC).
• Stakeholder management with client leadership and site directors.
• Experience with punch-list, risk mitigation and client acceptance.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning strategy, scheduling, and resource allocation for the hyperscale data centre.
• Oversee pre-commissioning, functional testing, integrated system testing and handover.
• Direct multidisciplinary engineering teams, sub-contractors, and site personnel during testing.
• Maintain quality management protocols and safety standards.
• Coordinate with client leadership and design teams for acceptance sign-offs.

Project focus

Commissioning of a major hyperscale data centre, covering critical electrical and mechanical systems through pre-commissioning, functional testing, integrated systems testing and final handover.

Key skills and Experience required:

• Proven track record leading and managing end-to-end commissioning strategy, scheduling, and resource allocation on large-scale engineering projects.


• Expertise in developing overall commissioning execution plans, testing frameworks, and quality management protocols.


• Strong leadership skills to direct multidisciplinary engineering teams, sub-contractors, and site personnel during testing and startup phases.


• Deep technical understanding of integrated mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and control/automation systems (BMS/SCADA/PLC).


• High-level stakeholder management skills, acting as the primary point of contact for client leadership, design teams, and site directors.


• Experience overseeing punch-list management, root-cause resolution workflows, risk mitigation, and final client acceptance sign-offs.


• Willingness to travel to project sites to lead key operational and handover milestones.


• Professional fluency in English (spoken and written).
