Job description

Business Intelligence Engineer

Help build and operate the future of Business Intelligence at Ellab

Ellab is on an exciting growth journey, and data is at the heart of our success. We are building a unified, company-wide Business Intelligence platform that will enable better decision-making across our global organization spanning 15 different countries with approximately 800 employees and 980 million DKK in turnover.

We are looking for aBusiness Intelligence Engineer who enjoys building things, solving problems and making data work in the real world.

If you like to get into the details, understand how operational systems work, turn raw data into reliable solutions and take ownership when something doesn't work as expected, this role is for you!

As part of our growing Business Intelligence team, you'll work alongside Data Engineers, BI Engineers and an analyst, owning the data value chain from operational source systems through to semantic models and reporting. You will help move Ellab from fragmented reports and ad hoc data extracts toward a centralized, scalable BI platform - while also making sure that the solutions we build work reliably in day-to-day operations.

What You'll Be Doing

This is a hands‑on engineering role. You will spend your time building, improving, troubleshooting, and maintaining BI solutions, while working closely with the business to understand the problems behind the data.

You will:

  • Build, maintain and optimize semantic models in Power BI to enable reliable, scalable and compliant reporting, ensuring consistent data integrity and traceability across Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Field Services and Sales.
  • Develop and improve data solutions using SQL, Microsoft Fabric and ADF.
  • Work directly with operational data sources from Microsoft business applications such as Business Central and Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (Field Service, Project Operations) and investigate data quality, integration, and reporting issues.
  • Troubleshoot problems and take end‑to‑end responsibility from idea to implementation and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to translate business processes, needs and operational challenges into practical, robust BI solutions.
  • Continuously improve existing data models, reports, and ways of working in the team and the organization.
  • Help establish standards and best practices for BI development, data quality, and documentation.
What You’ll Bring

You combine strong technical skills with a hands‑on, problem‑solving mindset.

You'll ideally have:

  • 3+ years of experience working with Power BI, DAX and SQL.
  • 3+ years of experience working with semantic layers, ensuring consistent metric definitions across business units.
  • Experience working with data from operational systems such as ERP and CRM
  • A track record of building and delivering working BI or data solutions, rather than primarily managing projects or coordinating others.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • The ability to understand a business problem, investigate the underlying data, and turn it into a practical solution.
  • A structured and pragmatic approach to problem‑solving.
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership from problem identification through implementation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

It would be an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and the wider Microsoft data ecosystem.
  • Experience working in complex, enterprise‑scale environments.
  • Experience integrating data from multiple operational systems.
  • Exposure to multinational organizations and diverse business domains.
  • Knowledge of finance, supply chain, procurement, resource planning, manufacturing, or related business functions.

We aim to hire the best fit as soon as possible. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis until a mutually suitable match has been identified
