Job summary

IMPACT Commerce in Aarhus seeks a Backend Tech Lead to own the design and evolution of scalable backend solutions across our B2B platforms. This frontrunner role blends hands-on architectural work with leadership, shaping backend vision and engineering standards.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams to guide architecture, mentor engineers, and participate in client dialogues, while contributing to thought leadership and conferences.

About The Job

As Backend Tech Lead at IMPACT, you will be expected to take ownership of how we design and evolve modern, scalable, high-quality back-end solutions across our B2B platforms. This is a frontrunner role where you help turn IMPACT’s 2028 strategy into technical reality through strong technical leadership.

Working closely with senior engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams, you will help define the backend vision, guide architectural decisions, and raise engineering standards across frameworks and platforms. All while, balancing hands-on architectural work with leadership through clarity, sparring, and example.

Beyond delivery, you act as a trusted technical authority, inspiring the backend community, while guiding teams on performance, scalability, and long-term quality, and supporting key client and sales dialogues with strong architectural insight. In addition, you will take an active part in external representation such as speaking at conferences, while contributing to thought leadership and help position IMPACT as a top-tier destination for backend talent.

As Backend Tech Lead, you bring deep experience in modern architecture, cloud platforms, and distributed systems operating at scale. You set high standards and care about long-term quality, actively contributing to build strong engineering culture through helping others grow.

When direction or representation is needed, you are comfortable stepping forward, leading through credibility and clarity, and challenging as well as elevating the people around you with your solid expertise.

Additionally, We Expect You To

• Bring strong expertise in modern backend frameworks, cloud platforms, and understand how to design scalable, secure and resilient architectures.
• Be comfortable leading code reviews, architecture discussions and technical deep dives.
• Communicate with clarity and energy in writing, on stage, and in collaboration with both clients and colleagues.
• Act as a mentor and sparring partner for senior engineers and upcoming talent.
• Contribute to talent attraction, technical branding and building a strong engineering community.
• Thrive in a consultancy environment and enjoy working closely with clients to solve complex challenges.

We expect you to bring 8+ years of experience in backend engineering and architecture, ideally gained in commerce-heavy, customer-facing digital environments such as e-commerce, content-driven platforms, or complex B2B solutions, where scalability, integrations, and real user behavior matter. ideally from a digital consultancy, and possibly with an educational background in computer science, software engineering or a related field.
