Job summary

Aarhus University invites applications for a 2-year Assistant Professor position in Transient Electromagnetic Signal Processing, Modelling and Inversion within the DREAM project. You will join the HydroGeophysics Group to advance signal processing for drone-based TEM systems and work with researchers across Geoscience and Electrical Engineering.

The role emphasizes numerical development for TEM, integration with hardware teams, and field validation.

Qualifications

  • PhD required in Geophysics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in transient electromagnetic forward modelling and inversion.
  • Experience implementing numerical solutions to electromagnetic problems.
  • Experience with TEM data acquisition, processing, and interpretation.
  • Strong programming skills; advanced Python required; PyTorch/GPU HPC experience advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and ability to collaborate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced signal processing methodologies for transient electromagnetic data.
  • Develop forward modelling and inversion algorithms for TEM systems.
  • Work on time-domain and Fourier-domain representations in processing.
  • Apply spectral analysis and data processing techniques to TEM data.
  • Integrate numerical methods into real-time drone-based TEM workflows.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on prototype design and field testing.
  • Lead data acquisition, modelling, and inversion activities for DREAM and related projects.
  • Publish results in high‑profile journals and present at international conferences.
