Aarhus University’s Marine Bioacoustics Lab seeks a skilled bioacoustician to lead collection and high-end analysis of calibrated acoustic data from monitoring programs, archival tags and experiments. The four-year fixed-term position involves field work in Denmark and internationally, data management, software development and teaching contributions.

The role requires a master’s degree in bioacoustics, engineering or physics, strong quantitative skills, and programming in Matlab or Python.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in bioacoustics, engineering or physics required; PhD is an advantage.
• Programming experience in Matlab or Python or similar tools required.
• Field work at sea and boat handling skills are advantageous.
• Strong English skills written and spoken; ability to work in a diverse team.

Responsabilités

• Plan, prepare and execute fieldwork in Denmark and internationally using hydrophones and arrays.
• Calibrate and maintain recording equipment; develop scientific hardware.
• Create and curate databases; develop software for time-series analyses of large acoustic datasets.
• Train students and postdocs in acoustic analyses; co-teach courses.
