The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is inviting applications for the position of a

W3 professorship forData Science in Psychology

as of October 1st, 2028.

We are looking for a person with a proven international track record in psychological research in the field of data science, with one focus being on complex data analyses in one or more fields of applied psychology. Experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence is desirable.

The successful candidate is expected to have acquired competitive external funding, published in prestigious international scientific journals, and to have a research profile compatible with the experimental focus of the Institute of Experimental Psychology. Furthermore, the potential for cooperation with researchers at the Institute as well as within and outside the Faculty is required, for example with the Centre for Digital Medicine and the Research Centre Jülich, also with respect to collaborative research projects. Experience in academic self-governance is expected. The Institute of Experimental Psychology places great importance on the use of open science practices. Relevant experience and a research approach aligned with these practices are required. Teaching experience and evidence of teaching skills are expected as well, as is the ability to deliver courses in German. Teaching responsibilities include quantitative methods in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programme in Psychology and teaching of the application of complex data analysis techniques to psychological data In the Master’s programme.

Conditions for employment are, in addition to general administrative conditions in accordance with § 36 of the North Rhine-Westphalia University Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen), an aptitude for teaching, exceptional competence in research, and additional scientific achievements.
