Amae Health is seeking a Part-Time Virtual Mental Health Therapist to support California members in a fully virtual role.
You will lead group therapy, provide individual therapy, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based care for adults with severe mental illness.
Severe mental illness affects over 15 million adults in the United States. Schizophrenia. Schizoaffective disorder. Bipolar I. Treatment-resistant depression. These are the conditions the rest of healthcare has systematically failed to build for.
What makes this problem different from most of healthcare is that the tools to solve it do not exist. The clinical protocols, the measurement science, the precision medicine, the technology to deliver coordinated longitudinal outpatient care for this population. None of it has been built. This is a frontier problem, and it requires frontier science and care delivery to solve.
We are developing all of it. The care, the science, the technology.
Amae Health is a Series B, venture-backed Public Benefit Corporation that delivers specialty outpatient care for people living with severe mental illness, including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar I disorder, and treatment-resistant depression. We design and operate high-acuity, in-person clinics across the United States.
Our model integrates psychiatry, therapy, primary care, dietitians, and community health workers under one roof to deliver coordinated, longitudinal care for a population that has historically been fragmented across systems.
Leading health systems collaborate with Amae to bring this model to their communities, including NewYork-Presbyterian, Cedars-Sinai, Mass General Brigham, Novant Health, and CommonSpirit Health.
We are hiring a Part-Time Virtual Mental Health Therapist (Fully Licensed or Associate-level) to support our members across California. In this fully virtual role, you'll deliver personalized, compassionate, high-quality group therapy to individuals living with serious mental illness (SMI), working as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
The schedule for this role is three days a week, mornings and evenings, plus additional time for documentation and administrative work.
You'll lead virtual group therapy for a panel of complex SMI patients across California, delivering evidence-based, holistic, wrap-around care. You'll work side-by-side with fellow therapists, psychiatrists, primary care providers, dietitians, and community health workers who share responsibility for the same patients, and you'll have access to ongoing training, supervision, and mentorship in evidence-based SMI care through Amae's academic medical center partnerships.
You're an engaging, personable, high-energy clinician who knows how to hold a group's attention and build genuine connection in a virtual setting. You thrive in a collaborative team environment and build real relationships with other medical professionals. You have experience working with adults with severe mental illness and comfort with evidence-based interventions such as CBT, DBT, or MI. You're highly organized, technologically savvy, and able to work autonomously, with a thorough understanding of confidentiality and documentation standards. You navigate hard situations with professionalism, and you keep the member at the center of every decision.
Amae Health is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Hourly base pay for this role is:
Pay will be adjusted to market, licensure, and experience.
Benefit packages (comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, parental leave, programs built around well-being) will be available if the part-time schedule is 24+ hours/week. We'll share specifics during the interview process.
If you want to practice at the top of your license, learn from the best in academic medicine, contribute to research that is defining a new field, and do it all inside a team that was actually built for this work, we'd like to talk.
