A global leader in rail transport is seeking a System Engineer in Mannheim, responsible for designing complex locomotive systems. This role involves collaboration across teams to define and document requirements, develop functional specifications, and support the integration of systems. Ideal candidates will have a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, strong analytical skills, and the ability to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment. As a system engineer, you are responsible for designing locomotive systems including subsystem interaction and subsystem functions. Since a train is a complex assembly of mechanical, electrical and electronic components, the main task of the system engineer is to develop a system that meets customer requirements, covers standards and regulations and makes maximum use of Alstom’s standard components.
The system engineer has multiple interfaces within the organization such as a link to the project engineer to understand the customer expectations, to the detailed design departments for the creation of schematics and physical integration. Also a close collaboration with the software development for the implementation of the functional requirements. After that the system engineer interacts with the authorization engineers to get the locomotive authorized in all required countries.
