  • Carrying out the mechanical design of cryogenic pump components and assemblies based on specifications and best practices
  • Supervision of external subcontractors and communication with suppliers
  • Design of test apparatus, definition of test objectives and analysis of test results
  • Analytical modeling of geometric, mechanical or fluidic problems and implementing solutions in programs
What we would love to see from you:
  • Master's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related and applicable technical discipline. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree with substantial relevant experience
  • Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and mechanical design
  • Good understanding of industry standard and emerging manufacturing methods and their respective constraints
  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software and drafting
  • Experience writing software/scripts in languages like Python
  • Ability to infer system-level implications of component design choices
  • Strong ability to work in close collaboration with others
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Strong research skills and ability to infer useful information from partial or even contradictory sources
  • Drive towards excellence coupled with ability to work within time constraints
  • Proficiency in organization and prioritization of tasks
  • Fluency in English

Desirable:

  • Some understanding of problems of machine dynamics, such as rotordynamics
  • Strong understanding of liquid-propellant rocket engines as a system
  • Proven experience working with any kind of fast rotating machinery
  • Hands-on experience developing hardware from concept to working prototypes
