Zusammenfassung

POLARIS Raumflugzeuge GmbH in Bremen seeks a Turbopump Design Engineer (m/f/d) to design and validate turbopumps for LOX/RP1 rocket engines. You will perform rotor dynamics, fluid and thermal analyses and use CFD/FEA tools for performance optimization.

The role requires a MSc in Space/Aerospace engineering, 2+ years of experience, and fluency in German and English. On-site work with an international team offering long-term prospects and competitive compensation.

Qualifikationen

  • M.Sc. in Space/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of full-time experience in turbomachinery.
  • Deep knowledge of turbomachinery and propulsion integration.
  • Strong physics, fluid dynamics, and materials understanding.
  • Cryogenic fluids experience (LOX) and high‑T/high‑P environments.

Aufgaben

  • Design and develop turbopumps for LOX/RP1 rocket engines.
  • Perform rotor dynamics, fluid dynamics, thermal and structural analyses.
  • Use CFD, FEA and 0D/1D modelling for performance optimization.
  • Work on shafts, seals, bearings and lubrication systems.
  • Collaborate with propulsion, mechanical and materials teams to integrate systems.
  • Define and verify performance parameters via simulation and testing.
  • Oversee testing and validation to ensure aerospace standards.

Depending on the area of responsibility, professional experience and specialist background, the gross annual salary ranges from EUR 60.000,00 to EUR 100.000,00.

Your mission
  • Design and develop turbopumps for LOX/RP1 rocket engines
  • Perform rotor dynamic, fluid dynamic, thermal, and structural analyses of turbopump components
  • Use CFD, FEA, and 0D/1D system modelling tools for performance prediction and optimization
  • Work on shaft seals, bearings, and lubrication systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including propulsion, mechanical, and materials engineers, to integrate turbopump systems into the overall rocket engine design
  • Define and verify key performance parameters, such as flow rates, pressures, and efficiency, through simulation and testing
  • Close collaboration with analysis, manufacturing, procurement, quality, and suppliers
  • Oversee the testing and validation of turbopump components and systems to ensure compliance with aerospace standards
Your profile
  • Degree in Space Engineering, Aerospace Engineering (M.Sc.) or similar
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience
  • Extensive knowledge in turbomachinery, including pumps, turbines and their integration
  • Profound understanding of physics, fluid dynamics, manufacturing processes, rocket engine/propulsion systems
  • Deep understanding of cryogenic fluids (e.g., LOX) and materials suitable for high-pressure, high-temperature environments.
  • Proficiency with Creo and ANSYS Fluent for design and verification
  • Proactive thinking, high level of motivation, flexibility, and team-working skills
  • Proficiency in both German and English
