Position: Technical Operations Manager – Wind

Executive Integrity is partnering, on a confidential and retained basis, with a growing renewable energy platform to appoint a Technical Operations Manager – Wind based in Munich.
Our client is an established player in the European renewable energy market, with a growing portfolio of onshore wind assets and an ambitious strategy for further expansion.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced wind operations professional to take ownership of the technical performance and operational management of a growing wind portfolio, working closely with internal teams, asset managers, OEMs and external service providers.
What will you be doing?
As Technical Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and commercially optimised operation of the company’s wind assets.
Working closely with the wider asset management and investment teams, you will act as the technical point of reference for the portfolio, overseeing performance, maintenance, contractors and technical risks throughout the operational lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Taking technical ownership of the operational performance of a portfolio of onshore wind assets.
- Monitoring turbine availability, production, performance and technical KPIs, identifying issues and driving corrective actions.
- Managing and overseeing OEMs, O&M providers and other technical contractors, ensuring contractual performance and service levels are met.
- Leading the technical interface with turbine manufacturers, service providers, grid operators and other external stakeholders.
- Reviewing and challenging maintenance strategies, budgets, work scopes and long-term service agreements.
- Managing technical budgets, forecasting operational expenditure and identifying opportunities to optimise costs and asset performance.
- Overseeing planned and unplanned maintenance activities, major component replacements and corrective works.
- Supporting the management of technical incidents, root-cause analysis and implementation of preventative measures.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable HSE, regulatory, grid and technical requirements.
- Supporting the asset management team with technical input into business plans, budgets, forecasts and investment decisions.
- Providing regular reporting to senior management on asset performance, operational risks, availability and key technical issues.
- Supporting the acquisition and integration of new wind assets, including technical due diligence and operational handover.
- Developing and implementing best-practice operational processes across the wind portfolio.
Are you the ideal candidate?
- You will bring a strong track record in the technical or operational management of wind assets, ideally within an IPP, renewable energy developer, asset manager or similar organisation.
- 5+ years of experience in wind energy, with a strong understanding of turbine technology, O&M and asset performance.
- Proven experience managing wind farms through the operational phase, with a strong focus on availability, reliability and performance optimisation.
- Experience managing OEMs, O&M contractors and other technical service providers.
- Strong understanding of turbine maintenance, SCADA, performance monitoring, root-cause analysis and technical reporting.
- Experience with operational budgets, contracts and commercial negotiations with suppliers.
- Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders and working cross-functionally with asset management, finance, development and investment teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into clear commercial recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills in English;German would be highly advantageous.
- An engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification is preferred.
- A proactive, hands‑on approach, with the ability to operate both strategically and in the detail when required..
