QuantumDiamonds in Munich is seeking a Technical Business Development Intern for Emerging Verticals within the Data Science & Machine Learning team. This full-time internship for 6 months starts as soon as possible, offering mentorship and exposure to market and science analysis of new application fields for magnetic field imaging.

You will map applications, review literature, speak with researchers and potential customers, and help turn insights into feasibility studies and deliverables.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree in physics, engineering, materials science, chemistry, biophysics or related field.
• Fluent in English; strong writing and communication skills.

QuantumDiamonds is building the world's first commercial quantum sensing tools for chip failure analysis. Our Quantum Diamond Microscope (QDm) images magnetic fields with micrometer resolution, and that capability could matter far beyond semiconductors. As our Technical Business Development Intern for Emerging Verticals in the Data Science & Machine Learning team in Pre-Development, you help us find out where.

Working directly with our project lead for Emerging Verticals, who mentors you, you explore new application fields for widefield magnetic imaging. You dig into the science and the markets behind them, talk to potential customers and users, and help turn promising ideas into first feasibility studies with our magnetic field imaging system. You see how a deep tech company decides where its technology goes next, and help shape that decision.

This is a full-time internship for 6 months, starting as soon as possible.

What will you do

• Map and evaluate application areas for magnetic field imaging beyond semiconductors: key players, customer segments and structured comparisons of use cases.

• Review scientific literature and patents to understand the state of the art, competing measurement methods, and where NV-based imaging offers a real advantage.

• Prepare and join discovery conversations with researchers and companies to understand their measurement challenges, and keep contacts and opportunities up to date in our CRM.

• Support feasibility studies with our experts, from defining suitable samples to interpreting first measurement results.

• Turn your findings into clear deliverables such as application one-pagers, decision memos, and presentations.

What is expected of you

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in physics, engineering, materials science, chemistry, biophysics, or a related natural science or engineering field, ideally with some Python exposure.

• Available full time for 6 months, starting as soon as possible.

• Curiosity about how a new measurement technology can solve problems in fields you may not know yet.

• Clear writing and structured analysis: you turn a pile of papers and conversations into a one-page recommendation.

• AI tools are part of how you research, analyze and write, and you check their output the way you check your own.

• Fluent in English. On-site in Munich.

Business studies or first experience in market research, consulting, or a startup is a plus, not required.

About us

QuantumDiamonds GmbH, headquartered in Munich, Germany, develops and manufactures semiconductor inspection systems based on quantum sensing.
