Jobbeschreibung

Would you like to work in a modern laboratory environment and contribute with your structured and reliable way of working—without being in the spotlight of research?
Then you have come to the right place. As part of our R&D team, you will take on the role of Laboratory Service Employee (internally referred to as Technical Assistant) and play a key role behind the scenes. You will ensure that materials, media, and laboratory resources are consistently available at a high quality level - thereby creating the foundation for successful research work.

We are a leading developer and producer of biotechnological products for the food and pharmaceutical industries. With tailor‑made enzymes and microbial production strains, we enable sustainable and efficient manufacturing processes.
At our Leipzig site, the Kerry Biotechnology Centre at Alte Messe, around 130 employees work as part of the Kerry Group. Our laboratory service team plays a key role in supporting daily research operations and ensuring smooth processes across the entire R&D area.

The focus of this position is on operational, structured, and repetitive tasks within the daily laboratory routine. This includes the preparation and provision of materials, their careful cleaning and sterilization, as well as the proper disposal of laboratory materials and waste. If you enjoy service‑oriented work, a well‑organized workday, and responsible routine tasks, we look forward to receiving your application.

Good reasons to join us:
  • 32-, 35-, 36-, or 40-hour work week (Monday–Friday) in modern laboratory facilities
  • Permanent position with a long-term perspective in laboratory services
  • Clearly defined tasks, routines, and stable processes
  • A supportive and collaborative working environment
  • Comprehensive onboarding across all areas of responsibility
  • Regular team events and benefits such as job ticket and JobBike
Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Provision, organization, and management of laboratory consumables
  • Ensuring continuous availability of laboratory resources
  • Preparation of media, buffers, and solutions according to defined protocols
  • Support of general laboratory organization (e.g., ordering, equipment maintenance)
  • Performing checks and calibrations of laboratory equipment
  • Cleaning, preparation, and sterilization of laboratory equipment and materials
  • Proper inactivation and disposal of laboratory waste (including genetically modified organisms)
  • Organization and coordination of recycling and disposal processes
  • A further development of responsibilities within the laboratory service team is possible in the long term.
Your Profile:
  • Education and experience:
  • Completed vocational training (any field welcome)
  • Initial experience in a laboratory environment is an advantage, but not required
  • Working style and personal strength:
  • A highly careful, structured, and reliable way of working
  • Enjoyment of service-oriented work in a support function
  • Strong team spirit and good communication skills
  • Very good German skills (at least level B2)
  • Basic knowledge of English
Important Note on the Role

This position is intentionally designed as a stable, long-term role in laboratory services and mainly involves operational, recurring tasks within clearly defined processes. It is particularly suited to you if you:

  • Enjoy working behind the scenes and taking responsibility for operational workflows
  • Feel comfortable in a structured working environment
  • Are looking for a long-term perspective in this specific field of work

If, on the other hand, you are aiming for a strongly research- or career-driven path with a short-term move into scientific roles, this position may not be the best fit.
The role is not designed as a stepping stone into research-focused positions.
