Zusammenfassung

Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum is seeking a Technical Assistant in Light Microscopy to support user trainings and microscopy workflows. You will operate microscopes, assist with sample preparation and basic image analysis using Arivis and Aivia, and help with quality checks and SOP contributions.

The role involves coordinating instrument-related service visits and collaborating with a dedicated Core Facility team.

Qualifikationen

  • Completed professional qualification as a biological or medical technical assistant, laboratory technician, or equivalent.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of light microscopy and sample preparation is desirable; new graduates welcome.
  • Good written and spoken German and English is mandatory.
  • Proficient in standard office software.

Aufgaben

  • Organize and conduct user introductions and technical training on Zeiss Lightsheet 7, Leica LMD7 and slide scanning systems.
  • Support microscope operation, imaging workflows and basic image analysis using Arivis and Aivia.
  • Prepare biological samples for light-sheet and expansion microscopy, including fixation, tissue clearing and staining.
  • Support laser microdissection workflows and related sample preparation.
  • Perform quality checks, troubleshooting and maintenance of microscopy systems, contribute to SOPs.
  • Coordinate service visits and manage consumables and laboratory materials.

The Light Microscopy Core Facility provides researchers with access to advanced light microscopy technologies. The team supports users with instrument operation, sample preparation, image acquisition, and data analysis and offers technical training and advice throughout the imaging workflow.

To strengthen our team, we are seeking, starting the earliest possible date, a Technical Assistant in Light Microscopy.

Your Tasks
  • Organizing and conducting user introductions and technical training, particularly on the Zeiss Lightsheet 7, Leica LMD7 and slide-scanning systems
  • Supporting users with microscope operation, imaging workflows, and basic image analysis using software such as Arivis and Aivia
  • Preparing biological samples for light-sheet and expansion microscopy, including fixation, tissue clearing, and staining
  • Supporting laser microdissection workflows and related sample preparation
  • Performing quality checks on microscopy systems, routine troubleshooting and maintenance, and contributing to SOPs
  • Coordinating service visits and managing required consumables and laboratory materials
Your Profile
  • Completed professional qualification as a biological or medical technical assistant, laboratory technician, or equivalent
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of light microscopy and sample preparation is desirable; applications from newly qualified candidates are also welcome
  • Good written and spoken German and English is mandaory
  • Confident use of standard office software
  • Careful, reliable, and well‑organized working style with a high degree of independence
  • Strong teamwork, communication skills, and an open‑minded attitude
