The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) seeks a Technical Assistant in Immunotherapies for Cancer to join the Junior Research Group at Frankfurt/Mainz, starting at the earliest date possible. The position is based at the University Medical Center Mainz, III.

Medizinische Klinik und Poliklinik. Your tasks include laboratory management, safety support, and hands-on wet-lab work such as PCR, cloning, Western blotting and ADP-Glo screening, as well as mammalian cell culture and data documentation

Qualifikationen

• Successfully completed vocational training as a BTA or a degree in biology or a related field.
• Professional experience in a biological laboratory.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office.
• Good written and spoken German and sufficient English for international collaboration.

Aufgaben

• Laboratory management including day-to-day operations, inventory and maintenance.
• Guide students in basic lab protocols and ensure biosafety compliance.
• Perform routine molecular biology and microbiology techniques (PCR, cloning, Western blotting, ADP-Glo).
• Handle mammalian cell culture including maintenance and transfection/transduction.
• Prepare culture media and support cell culture activities.
• Document laboratory activities accurately according to biosafety requirements.
• Contribute to efficient lab operations and implement established procedures.

The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is one of Europe’s largest cancer research centers. “Research for a life without cancer" is the mission of our world-class scientists and all our team members.

DKTK conducts transformative translational cancer research, educates the next generation of translation‑oriented medical and clinical scientists and establishes strong pipelines towards clinical cancer research and the economy.

For the Junior Research Group "Next-Generation Engineered Translational Immunotherapies" at the DKTK partner site Frankfurt/Mainz, starting at the earliest date possible, we are seeking a Technical Assistant in Immunotherapies for Cancer.

Our research group focuses on developing innovative immunotherapies for cancer treatment. The position is located at the University Medical Center Mainz, III. Medizinische Klinik und Poliklinik.

Your Tasks

• Laboratory management:Organize and oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, including monitoring and ordering consumables, coordinating maintenance and repairs, and supporting the annual inventory
• Laboratory safety and support:Guide students in performing basic laboratory protocols and ensure compliance with applicable laboratory safety standards and procedures
• Wet-lab activities:Independently perform routine molecular biology and microbiological laboratory techniques, including PCR, cloning, Western blotting, and ADP-Glo assay-based screening
• Mammalian cell handling:Perform and support mammalian cell culture activities, including maintenance of tumor cell lines, transfection and transduction, primary human PBMC transduction, and cellular activity assays
• Culture preparation and maintenance:Prepare media for bacterial and yeast cultures and perform basic cell culture activities
• Documentation and compliance:Accurately document laboratory activities and experimental work in accordance with applicable genetic engineering (S1/S2) and biosafety requirements
• Laboratory organization:Contribute to the smooth, structured, and efficient operation of the laboratory and support the implementation of established laboratory procedures

Your Profile

• Successfully completed vocational training as a biological technical assistant (BTA) or a degree in biology or a related field
• Professional experience in a biological laboratory
• Good working knowledge of MS Office
• Good written and spoken German and sufficient English skills for communication in an international working environment
• Careful, reliable, and independent approach to work
• Ability to adapt to changing tasks and priorities, willingness to learn, and a strong sense of responsibility
