Nanogami is a highly innovative and rapidly growing startup in the field of DNA Origami-based nanotechnology (check out our DLD Talk or this article to learn more). Our international team is driven by a shared vision: to pioneer a novel generation of biochips set to unlock applications in research and diagnostics and thereby pushing the boundaries of personalised medicine to new heights. We recently secured significant funding by SPRIND - Germany's Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation to realize our ambitious growth trajectory and now aim to significantly expand our current team to support the at-scale commercialisation of our nanotechnology.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician (f/m/d) to join our innovative biotechnology team. This role is pivotal in our lab operations, focusing on microbial culture management and bioreactor operations. What You Will Do
  • Operate lab scale bioreactors
  • Maintain our microbial culture collection
  • Perform laboratory experiments, assays, and analyses under senior guidance and contribute to large‑scale process improvements
  • Perform molecular cloning procedures, transformation of E. coli, cultivation of E. coli, downstream processing
  • Keep comprehensive and well‑organized laboratory records
  • Collaborate with researchers to troubleshoot experiments and optimise or develop new laboratory techniques and protocols, and participate in team meetings, provide feedback and contribute ideas for protocol optimisation and experimental design
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance tasks such as cleaning, organising equipment and workspaces
Requirements
  • Training as a technical assistant (e.g. BTA or comparable) or Bachelor's degree in biotechnology, molecular biology or in a related field
  • 1‑2 years of experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in the biotech industry
  • Comprehensive knowledge of biotechnological techniques and standard laboratory procedures - Experience with lab scale bioreactors, cultivating E. coli, molecular cloning
  • Focused and reliable in executing laboratory tasks and standardised protocols
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with a positive and open attitude combined with the willingness to learn new things
  • Flexible and responsive to dynamic work requirementsEffective in interdisciplinary team collaboration with a self‑motivated and independent work ethic
  • Fluent in English
Preferred
  • Good understanding of German
  • Experience with M13 phages / Filamentous bacteriophages
  • Experience with Lambda phage handling/ cultivation
  • Experience with pilot scale bioreactors (up to 200 L)
