Our Accounting team plays a crucial role in ensuring trivago’s financial accuracy and compliance. As a Technical Accountant specializing in US GAAP, you’ll tackle complex accounting challenges and lead initiatives that have significant impact across the organization. You’ll work on tasks of large scope while applying advanced accounting concepts and exercising your problem-solving skills. Your expertise in US GAAP will be pivotal as we navigate the complexities of SEC reporting and financial compliance. How you’ll make an impact:

• Be our subject-matter expert: Research and interpret US GAAP accounting standards to guide the team on complex questions and scenarios
• Collaborate and communicate: Develop clear, practical documentation and explain technical topics to finance and non-finance colleagues. You’ll also deliver training sessions as needed
• Lead important projects: Drive cross-functional initiatives to ensure proper accounting for new or unusual transactions and support the implementation of new standards
• Stay up to date: Monitor new accounting rules and assess their impact on our financial statements and reporting processes
• Strengthen compliance: Help develop and review accounting policies and disclosures to keep our reporting accurate and up to standard

What you’ll need to thrive:

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• At least 5 years’ experience in a publicly-listed company or large public accounting firm, working with US GAAP
• Strong technical understanding of US GAAP and hands-on experience applying it
• Fluent English with excellent documentation and communication skills
• Ability to explain technical matters clearly and work well with people at all levels
• Well-organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

Stand out with:

• CPA (US or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Familiarity with IFRS and German GAAP is a plus.
• Practical financial reporting experience and/or knowledge of income tax accounting is valued.
• German language skills are a bonus.
