You will drive innovation, foster cross-departmental collaboration, and ensure that our technological strategies are fully aligned with Aesir’s creative ambitions and long-term business goals.

Additionally, you will hold budgetary responsibility for your department, managing resources and investments to ensure cost efficiency and sustainable growth.

This role combines visionary leadership, technical excellence, and organizational management at the highest level of our production structure.

The kind of stuff you’ll be doing:
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership of the Technology Department in line with Aesir’s company goals and project portfolio.
  • Define and implement the technical vision for Aesir’s future games, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and innovation in all tech areas.
  • Oversee the structure, processes, and quality standards within Programming, Tech Art, Tools & Pipeline, and Engine Development.
  • Collaborate closely with the Art Director, Game Director, and Production Leadership to ensure seamless integration of creative and technical workflows.
  • Manage and control the department’s budget, including resource planning, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies, ensuring Aesir remains at the forefront of Unreal Engine and game tech innovation.
  • Establish and refine technical pipelines, toolsets, and frameworks to optimize development efficiency and quality.
  • Mentor and coach the department’s Leads, Principals, and Experts to promote professional growth and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and open communication across the entire department.
  • Act as the main point of contact for technical decisions and interdepartmental coordination on production-critical topics.
  • Work with management to ensure the financial, technical, and production goals of the company are consistently achieved.
Who are we looking for:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary technical leader with a deep understanding of game development processes and a proven track record of leading multidisciplinary tech teams.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in professional game development, including several years in a senior leadership or director-level role.
  • Proven experience in strategic, operational, and financial management of technical departments within the games industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine 5, C++, and software architecture principles.
  • Broad understanding of Tech Art, Tools & Pipeline development, and real-time rendering technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple teams, set goals, and manage budgets effectively.
  • Experience implementing scalable production pipelines and technical frameworks for multi-platform Double-A or Triple-A projects.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to align technology, creative vision, and production goals.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken (German is a plus).
  • A strategic thinker with a hands‑on mentality and a data‑driven approach to decision‑making.
Main responsibilities
  • Provide strategic, operational, and financial leadership of the Technology Department.
  • Ensure technical quality, stability, and scalability across all active and future projects.
  • Manage departmental budgeting, including forecasting, cost control, and reporting.
  • Define and manage goals, priorities, and standards in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Supervise department Leads (Programming, Tech Art, Tools, Engineering) and foster cross‑disciplinary collaboration.
  • Oversee the evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance productivity and innovation.
  • Conduct evaluations, 1:1s, and feedback sessions with Leads and Principals.
  • Drive process optimization, workflow standardization, and quality assurance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure technical feasibility and integration of creative goals.
  • Represent the Technology Department in management meetings, ensuring clear communication of progress, risks, and resource needs.
Benefits
  • A welcoming and vibrant office located just 10 minutes from Munich Central Station, fostering creativity and collaboration.
  • A 38‑hour workweek, ensuring a healthy work‑life balance.
  • Relocation support if needed, making your transition to Munich seamless.
